The Shape of Summer

The Shape of Summer is a short surrealist film blending choreographed movement, poetic imagery and surreal interactions with nature. The film explores summer as a fleeting, dreamlike state, a moment that slips away before it’s fully grasped.
Set in the Dutch landscape, the film taps into a collective nostalgia: the ache of moments we can’t hold onto and the quiet beauty in impermanence. Through expressive body language, the protagonist senses time passing not through clocks or calendars, but through subtle shifts in light, weather and emotion. The Shape of Summer blurs the line between dream and reality, memory and sensation. In an overstimulated world, the film offers a quiet meditation on presence, the female body as a site of perception and transformation, and the ephemeral beauty of the everyday.
