• Melissa approaches her printed photographs as canvases, surfaces she can return to and work on directly. The images she selects are drawn from her archive, when an image no longer fully communicates its story through photography alone.

Painting becomes a way of uncovering what lies beneath the surface of the photograph. It is an act of exploration, guided by lines, forms, and movement through which new layers of meaning begin to emerge.

Painted works are available at Hama Gallery.
